Croatian Online Casinos
Croatian Online Casinos
Croatia was the first Eastern Bloc country to license and regulate gambling, as long ago as in the 1960s. In the early 2000s, online gambling was also
regulated in the country. But to date Croatia’s online gambling industry has been slow to evolve, and as yet there are no Croatian online casinos. That
said, Croatians are free to gamble online at any offshore-owned and operated gambling sites that will accept them.

Gambling In Croatia
Since the 1960s gambling has been allowed in Croatia, although it has always been strictly controlled by the government. And from then until 1991 –
when Croatia was granted its independence – until today, land gambling continues to be a highly popular pastime in Croatia, and includes traditional
casino games as well as poker.
Although these games are limited to Croatia’s land casinos, most casinos are aimed at the country’s large number of tourists. Other popular forms of
gambling in Croatia include bingo and sports betting. It is interesting to note that all gambling activities are overseen by state-run operation,
Hrvatska Lutrija.
Online Gambling In Croatia
Although online gambling is fully regulated in Croatia, it has been slow to catch on in popularity. While a large percentage of Croatians are fans of
land gambling, not nearly as many have embraced online gambling. And for this reason the Croatian government has not yet granted any licenses for Croatian
online casinos.
In 2002, one of Croatia’s most popular land casinos Casino Solei launched an online gambling site. However, not long afterwards this online gambling
site was closed, and continues to be dormant to this day. But thanks to Croatia’s acceptance of online gambling, its citizens are free to gamble at
foreign sites if they so wish.
