Anyone familiar with the online gambling industry and its history will recall how leading e-wallet provider, PayPal, stopped processing online gambling payments in 2006 following the U.S. crackdown on the internet pastime, but that is set to change after the firm signed a deal with Neovia Financial.

The deal will mean that Neovia Financial Plc, a successful UK independent global online payments company, can now add PayPal as one more payment method available to its vast customer base. In other words, PayPal will now be included in Neovia's Netbanx Payment Gateway which its merchants can access.

Currently Netbanx Payment Gateway allows Neovia's merchants to accept payment from customers using VISA, Maestro, Diners Club, American Express, Carte Bleue, Carta Si and JCB debit or credit cards, as well as other popular e-wallets including Neteller, Giropay, ELV, DirectPay24, Ukash and iDeal.

Said Neovia executive vice president of Sales Marketing and Products, Dan Starr, 'We are very pleased to be able to add PayPal to the range of payment options available to our merchants via our Netbanx Payments Gateway, giving their customers more choice in how they want to purchase their goods online.'

There is no doubt that Neovia's merchants will be thrilled at the news considering that PayPal boasts over 20 million accounts in the UK alone. One of the biggest draw cards of PayPal as an online payment method for consumers is that it allows them to shop online without having to disclose their financial details.

It is estimated that in Europe already over 150,000 merchants accept PayPal as an online payment method, including leading high-traffic UK e-commerce sites such as eBay, New Look, Boots, Just Giving, Topshop and Monarch Airways. Now UK online gamblers can use PayPal to fund their casino accounts.

Said PayPal General Manager Merchant Services, Cameron McLean, 'We are delighted to have signed this strategic partnership with Netbanx - one of the leading market payment service providers. Netbanx has a great merchant portfolio and this partnership offers us an excellent way to reach this significant audience.'
