In the last decade online payment processors have sprung up on the internet like wildfire, but one that has made enormous strides, particularly with regards to the ever-expanding global online gambling industry, is Ukash, reportedly the largest prepaid-cash issuing estate in the world.

200, it seems, was a bumper year for Ukash which has as its core mission the need to ' to allow anyone in the world to shop, pay and play online using cash.' And in this vein, Ukash expanded its total number of issuing points by 16 countries, as well as formed many new and symbiotic partnerships.

For instance, territories in which people can now enjoy using the services offered by Ukash include Uruguay, Canada, China, Australia and even South Africa. In addition, Ukash forged partnerships with Bingo.com, 888ladies, WinkBingo, Betsson, as well as renowned online poker room, PokerStars.

Similarly, Ukash increased its level of involvement with existing partners such as Full Tilt Poker, Bet365 and UK land and online betting powerhouse, Ladbrokes. In the last 12 months alone, Ukash has seen its transaction value almost double within the online gambling sector, and 2010 should be no different.

Said Ukash CEO, Mark Chirnside, 'Ukash is a very popular method of payment for consumers in the gaming sector who wish to benefit from the convenience of spending cash online, or who are wary of exposing financial details over the internet.

' Having seen an increase in sales of our vouchers in gaming last year, it is obvious that consumers who use the internet for leisure have an increasing need to spend cash online, and we will continue to expand into new territories in 2010 so even more people can benefit from Ukash,' he said.

Founded in 2001 under holding company Smart Voucher Ltd, today Ukash is available in 29 countries and boasts over 300,000 global physical issuing points. Part of the reason Ukash is so widely used, is that it is a secure payment method that protects a person's identity and financial information when online.
