Leading online gaming software vendor Playtech has made history by providing its online casino software to Spain's first ever licensed online casino, Casino Gran Madrid, which went live this week and is expected to be a roaring success.

After Spain recently became just one of a handful of European countries to legalise and regulate its online gambling market, it allowed online gambling operators to apply for casino licenses, and Casino Gran Madrid was the first one granted.

Operating on the domain CasinoGranMadrid.es, Casino Gran Madrid is powered by Playtech, which is acknowledged as one of the world's most successful internet gambling software developers, and one that powers many top gaming sites.

Casino Gran Madrid Strengthened by Playtech

Said Information Systems Director for Casino Gran Madrid, Jorge Casanova, 'Our agreement with Playtech strengthens Casino Gran Madrid's leading position in the Spanish casino market. With our casino brand and games available online, we are delighted to be leading gaming development in Spain through Playtech's innovative, secure and transparent system.'

Casino Gran Madrid is the online arm of the land-based Casino Gran Madrid, which hosted the final of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour earlier this year. And just like its bricks and mortar cousin, CasinoGranMadrid.es offers all the most popular casino games including slots, video poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, Keno, scratch cards, progressives and more.

'Casino Gran Madrid will continue to operate under one brand because our aim is to leverage synergies for our customers, and remain true to our core values that have guided our performance - professionalism, rigor, experience, transparency, security -and with a software certified by official laboratories,' said Casanova.

In May this year Spanish Congress approved changes to its Gambling Act by the Senate, opening the way for the regulation of online gambling within its borders. It also introduced a tax regime licensing system for online gaming operators wanting to operate in Spain, in addition to numerous safeguards to combat underage and problem gamblers.
