Playtech, highly successful online gambling software vendor, has signed a lucrative deal with renowned comics-to-film firm Platinum Studios Incorporated, that will see the development of a Cowboys & Aliens slot game.

The Isle of Man-based Playtech is famous for always being on the lookout for new gaming ideas to develop for its vast portfolio of online casino clients, and its new licensing agreement with US-based Platinum Studios will allow it to bolster its already massive selection of online casino games.

In this case, the Platinum Studios deal with Playtech could see the latter enjoy a choice of over 5,000 comic books titles and characters to adapt for the online gambling industry, but the title that sealed the deal is the classic Cowboys & Aliens.

Cowboys & Aliens was first published in 2006 as a graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg (and Platinum Studios head), and earlier this year was released as a hugely successfull Hollywood blockbuster starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde.

As its names suggests, the storyline of Cowboys & Aliens involves an alien invasion in the United States in the 19th Century, when the cowboys dominated the west. As such, the graphic novel, the film and the soon-to-be-released Playtech slot game documents what happens when these foreign, but exciting worlds collide.

Playtech is Set to Introduce Cowboys & Aliens Slots

Said Playtech head of content Sagi Harari, 'Playtech is excited to introduce Cowboys & Aliens slots to the online gaming scene. This comic book fits in well with our existing branded games, since it is instantly recognisable due to the great success of the movie and it also lends itself to visually impressive games.

'Powerful branded games are in high demand and fans as well as casino-game players will no doubt be thrilled to experience our new offering,' he said.

Also thrilled at the licensing deal is Platinum Studios CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who said, 'Online gaming is a whole new playing field for us and perfectly follows Cowboys & Aliens' success at the box office. We're very much looking forward to people playing Cowboys & Aliens slots from their living room.'
