William Hill Online Shows 33 Percent Q1 Growth

Once a solely a UK land betting operation, William Hill quickly
evolved with the advent of online gambling, and today its online
operations are amongst its most profitable and fastest growing, as
shown in its newly published Q1 financials.

William Hill’s Interim Management Statement disclosed that
its overall revenue for the first quarter of this year rose 12 per
cent, thanks in part to a 33 per cent rise in the firm’s net online
gaming revenues, while its overall operating profit increased by 19
per cent.

According to the statement, in Q1 William Hill Online’s sports
betting operations experienced a year-on-year net revenue growth of
58 per cent, with betting amounts rising by 31 per cent. In
addition, William Hill Online’s average gross win margin for the
quarter was 8.8 per cent, which was higher then expected.

William Hill’s Mobile App Downloaded 190,000 Times

Another area where William Hill has shown tremendous growth is
betting on mobile devices, which was up by 370 per cent in the first
quarter, and which accounted for roughly 19 per cent of the firm’s
overall sportsbook turnover during the period. In fact, William
Hill’s mobile app was reportedly downloaded almost 190,000 times
during Q1.

Said William Hill CEO, Ralph Topping, ‘Our mobile performance is now
benefitting from our sportsbook app being available in the Apple App
Store, giving us access to thousands of new customers who have never
bet with William Hill before, highlighting the growth potential of
these new channels and their importance to our multi-channel
offering.

‘With our sportsbook exceeding £50m in turnover in a single
week for the first time during the quarter and mobile turnover
reaching almost £11m in a single week, our investments in
marketing and innovations are continuing to deliver benefits,’
continued Topping.

Will Hill’s Playtech Casino Game Revenues Rose 37%

William Hill’s net online gaming revenues increased by 19 per cent,
while its net online casino revenues grew by 26 per cent. Within
this, 37 per cent of the growth was attributed to the firm’s
Playtech-powered online casino games, and 16 per cent to its Vegas
online casino games. William Hill’s net online bingo revenues grew
by 7 per cent, although its net online poker revenues dropped by 8
per cent in the first quarter.

Topping also said that the board of William Hill is extremely
confident in its expectations for the full financial year given the
positive underlying trends that have emerged so early on in the
year.

In terms of expansion into foreign markets, William Hill confirmed
that its application for a Nevada gaming license is progressing as
planned and within the expected time frame.
