Recognising how lucrative the US online gambling industry will be when one day
it is legalised and regulated, many large offshore gambling firms have been
champing at the bit to be awarded a coveted online gambling license from the
gambling-friendly state of Nevada, UK gambling giant William Hill being one of
the latest.

William Hill made news headlines recently after it publicly
withdrew its online gambling operations from Australia with the sole objective
of helping to influence the Nevada Gaming Commission to grant the land and
online betting giant a coveted Nevada online gaming license, a strategy
which has clearly paid off.

Also lucky enough to be granted online gaming licenses from Nevada last week
were two long-established US gambling firms Bally Technologies Incorporated and
International Game Technology (IGT). IGT, which is one of the premier land
gambling game manufacturers in the world, made its foray into the online
gambling world a few years ago through its now highly successful online gambling
arm, WagerWorks.

US Online Gambling Market Worth Billions

According to reports, the Nevada State Gaming Control Board regulator approved
the three licenses earlier this month. Now each company is well-positioned to
capitalise on the planned US online gambling market, which in five years,
experts estimate, could generate over $13 billion a year.

Said William Hill
CEO, Ralph Topping, ‘We are delighted to have been awarded a license by the
Nevada Gaming Commission. A license recognized around the world as a significant
regulatory seal of approval and we are proud to have earned it.’

In anticipation of being granted a Nevada gaming online license, William Hill
laid the ground work in April this year to buy three American land-based
bookmakers – Club Cal Neva Satellite Race and Sportsbook Division, American
Wagering Incorporated and Brandywine Bookmaking LLC.

William Hill to Enter US Sports Betting Market

‘We are now able to bring together these businesses to create a leading position
in the US sports betting market, combining our brand and product range with AWI,
Brandywine and Cal Neva’s extensive footprint, strong local relationships and
trusted service,’ continued Topping.

IGT CEO Patti Hart, was also thrilled at
being granted Nevada online gaming license. ‘This is an exciting day for
interactive wager-based gaming, and we are honored to be granted the opportunity
to support our customers as they further expand their operations to include
online play in the State of Nevada.,’ she said.

Hart and Topping’s sentiment was echoed by Bally CEO, Richard Haddrill. ‘We
look forward to Bally expanding its leadership role in this exciting new arena
of online gaming.’ The Reno-based Bally is expected to offer its new online
gambling platform and content to various casino operators.
